This is a journal, or a log, or maybe just a diary, detailing my treatment for Prostate Cancer by use of Proton Therapy. My treatment was done at the University of Florida Proton Therapy Institute in Jacksonville, Florida.

Canadian Interlopers...
We arrived home from church this afternoon to find an armada of Canadian Geese paddling around in our back yard. I counted 38 of them, the most we've yet seen around here. As I stepped outside with the camera, they all swam toward me, looking for a handout. Since there was no Molson or LaBatt's in the house, Anita scrounged around and managed to find a few old biscuits for them.
Friday I will have my 21st Proton treatment, which will mean we're half done. They say that time flies when you're having fun; it seems that as we grow older, it flies even without the fun.
Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas, and we pray God's eternal blessings to you and yours in this New Year.
I was born in Medford, Wisconsin and spent my formative years on dairy farm near Cadott, in Chippewa County. I spent four years in the US Air Force after High School. Back to school, after which I was employed for thirty years by IBM. In 1968 I married Anita Dettmer. We lived five years in Rochester, MN, where our son Jefferson was born in 1971. In 1973 we moved to Cedar Park, TX, living there for thirteen years. Then came three years in Charlotte, NC and nine in Lexington, KY. I retired in 1998, and we moved to Niceville, FL where we lived for eight years. In 2006 we moved to Hamilton County, TN (north of Chattanooga). On September 19, 2007, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Now, three years later, I remain cancer-free. Thanks be to God!
